We’re pleased to announce the successful completion of another critical step in the foundation works of the Glowing Star project, a 10-story residential development rising in the heart of Kalabria, Prishtina.

Following the precise compaction of the foundation gravel layer (Evd = 110 MN/m²), our team has now completed the installation of a 10 cm thick lean concrete layer (C20/25)—a crucial but often unseen component of the foundation system.

While non-structural, the lean concrete layer serves a number of essential purposes that directly impact the overall precision, durability, and performance of the structure:

• It provides a clean, levelled, and stable surface for all subsequent construction stages
• Enables accurate placement of 5 cm reinforcement spacers, ensuring a consistent protective cover for rebar and enhancing resistance to corrosion
• Supports exact positioning of reinforcement, contributing to the structural integrity of the slab
• Eliminates surface irregularities, improving the performance of the waterproofing concrete
• Sets the stage for the accurate alignment of formwork, reinforcement cages, and slab pouring

Executed with technical accuracy and attention to detail, this layer defines the quality of what comes next—even if it will remain hidden beneath the finished slab.

All works have been carried out under the expert supervision of Grand International Group LLC, in accordance with EN 206 and Eurocode 7, ensuring full compliance with European standards in concrete and geotechnical engineering.
